‘Is fearr Gaeilge bhriste, ná Béarla cliste’, so be inspired to use more than cúpla focal!
Áine Gallagher is very excited to be a part of the UCD “Be Inspired” 2021 Festival, taking place from May 27th – May 29th.
On May 29th at 1.30pm, people can join Áine for her unique, one of a kind “Ciorcail Cómhrá with a Twist”. It will be a fun, inclusive, bilingual workshop where people can practise speaking Irish or simply listen as Áine shares a few scéalta and introduces the true levels of fluency like the time “you thought you thought you were ready to interact with President Michael D Higgins as Gaeilge”. It will provide a chance to speak and collectively celebrate our successes, failures and resilience when learning languages.
She will also contribute to the panel discussion “More than a Cúpla Focal” May 29th at 12.30pm, where a mix of Gaeilgeoirs from different backgrounds will share their stories about their love and struggles with the language. The discussion will be inspired by Roxanna Nic Liam’s recent ‘Siúcra’ (Sugar) and Áine Gallagher’s ‘Grá agus Eagla’ (Love and Fear), which share warming stories about finding the ‘grá’ for Gaeilge and combatting the ‘eagla’ of learning a new language.
Cé go bhfuil go leor roghanna ag UCD chun an Ghaeilge a fhoghlaim agus líofacht a fháil sa Ghaeilge, cuideoidh an comhrá seo leis na bacainní a choisceann orainn go minic an ‘cúpla focal’ atá againn a úsáid agus an ‘eagla’ sin a bhaineann le foghlaim na Gaeilge a shaothrú.
All events are perfect for anyone looking for a bit of inspiration and a chance to practise their Irish in fun, friendly spaces.
